Myspace Funtastic Drácula Carnival 4

We're still working on this page in order for it to cover the best cheapest fastest safest ways to get you to the Carnival, but here's these early hour appetizers and tips from our team's non-driving member, Pablo de la Cruz...

Valencia's airport works with the usual regular flight companies, including (but not limited to) these budgets:

EASYJET
London, Bristol, Berlin.

AIR BERLIN
Most of Germany's airports, Amsterdam, London, Salzburg, Vienna, Zurich.

RYANAIR
London, Milano, Roma, Verona.

VUELING
Amsterdam, Bruxelles, Milano, Paris.

In this page you can check which companies fly to and from Valencia.

Most of these are extremely cheap given this time in advance (ie from London, Ryanair is about 25 UKP + return at the time of writing!), so wisen up, hurry up, and book your flights now! Also, a little window shopping over the different companies websites might get you some hard to beat offers.

If you prefer to fly to some other airport, like Madrid, Barcelona or Alicante, you can rent unexpensive cars from several companies. See Travel By Road for details.

Alicante's airport might be of interest due to it being close to that holiday makers Mecca Benidorm - which means cheap flights too! Some of you know the airport from the Wild Weekend, and it's a hour and a half ride/drive to Valencia.

Valencia's railway system is not the world's most comprehensive. There are several trains coming daily from Madrid and Valencia, but they are not cheap neither particularly fast. Don't say we didn't warn you! In case that you must get them, all info is here.

The city is connected to Madrid and Barcelona through highways, and it takes around three hours and a half to drive from each of them - but if you plan to drive, keep in mind that the Barcelona highway is plagued by tollways so your trip could get much more expensive than what you thought! Please check before with a web-based route planner (such as Via Michelin) which give you updated toll fares.

In any case, do not repeat DO NOT try to save cash by coming through the alternate national road from Barcelona - it's a free ride, but every European trucker knows so, resulting in travel times of up to ten hours and that's a big NONO as there's so much fun awaiting for you at the Funtastic Dracula Carnival!

There are several car rent companies around, but we fully support Pepecar! OK, the name's not that encouraging, but don't let that or their funky image deceive you, it's a powerful company offering Mercs for as low as 19 euros a day which is too insane to translate into pounds! By the way all you lowriders: it's Merc as in Mercedes not in Mercury.

Bus rides take four hours from Barcelona or Madrid, and they are provided by Alsa and Auto-Res respectively. You can buy advance tickets from their websites and print them at home then gaze at them wishing middle-October had come.

Valencia has one of the biggest commercial ports my eyes have witnessed bar Rotterdam, so if you come from any Mediterranean seatown you could probably pack yourself in a container that would eventually bring you here. Due to America's Cup or whatever its name was, Apparently we have now a huge Marina or whatever those places you park your swanky yatch are called, but you'd have to ask somewhere else, really, that's not my bag at all. I'm a proud inlander.
